Photos from family metal detecting event - Upper Seagry

The Rural Crime Team joined the Wiltshire Searchers Metal Detecting Club last Sunday 11 May in Upper Seagry, near Chippenham, to host a free family metal detecting event.

Members of the Wiltshire Searchers Metal Detecting Club demonstrated how to use a metal detector, and shared the rules around metal detecting. The aim of this was to help educate people on the importance of metal detecting lawfully and respectfully to preserve historical sites, of which Wiltshire is home to many. The Rural Crime Team were also there to answer any questions from the public about heritage crime and, more generally, rural crime in their area.

David Rees, of Wiltshire Searchers Metal Detecting Club, said: "There was a nice turnout of young and older visitors all wanting a go at metal detecting. Everyone seemed to enjoy the event and it is hoped we can hold similar events in the future that people can attend to meet the Wiltshire Rural Crime Team and enjoy a spot of responsible metal detecting."
