Motorcyclist arrested after travelling at speeds of 130mph on A4 near Calne

On Friday 12/04/24, Roads Policing Officers had the rider of a motorcycle failing to stop at speeds in excess of 130mph.

Officers followed the rider travelling on the A4 through Beckhampton, Yatesbury, Cherhill and towards Calne before the pursuit was aborted on safety grounds.

on 14/04/2024 the rider much to his surprise was arrested at his home address.

The rider was charged, remanded and will be attending court.

Calne PCSO Mark Cook says: “as a motorcyclist of over 30 years, the standard of riding shown here showed a complete disregard to any other road users safety, and one of the worse I’ve ever seen on our roads.

“The A4 through Cherhill often has pedestrians and horse riders crossing the road. The speed limit is there for a reason.

“Roads Policing and Neighbourhood Officers have been conducting speed enforcement checks in this location, and will continue to do so for any vehicles not adhering to the speed limits.

“Please keep to the posted limits. The limits are there for a reason. Also show respect to yourself and others on our roads.”
