We are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault at a caravan storage site near Westbury.

At around 2.40pm yesterday afternoon (20/03) officers responded to reports from the ambulance service that a man had been run over and was trapped under a gate.

The victim, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital to be treated for potentially life changing injuries to his legs.

It is believed that two men were trying to gain access to the site and when the owner refused they struck the gate with their vehicle.

A silver BMW, believed to be the same vheicle, was found abandoned on Black Dog Hill layby shortly after.
